The Fountain County Auditor's office processes a number of property tax benefit forms for Fountain County homeowners. Applicable property tax benefits are applied to a property owner's property assessment or tax bill and could result in a lower tax bill. Please read below to find out more information.

**Please note that several deductions have been eliminated per Senate Enrolled Act 1 effective January 1, 2025 for taxes payable in 2026.**

Eliminated Deductions SEA 1
**Additionally, Senate Enrolled Act 1 replaced the following deductions with credits effective January 1, 2025 for taxes payable in 2026. If you are already receiving the deduction it will automatically be converted to the credit you do not need to re-file.**

  • Over 65 Deduction converted to Over 65 Credit
  • Blind/Disabled Deduction converted to Blind/Disabled Credit

While all applications can be submitted in person at our office, you can also apply for the Homestead Deduction / Credit, the Over 65 Credit, and the Blind/ Disabled Credit online. Follow the links below for all forms and information.

If You Meet These Conditions You May Be Eligible for This Deduction

You own a home or are buying on a recorded contract, and use it as your primary place of residence.

You own property or a mobile home or are buying one on a recorded contract, and you are over the age of 65. **Deduction converted to credit per Senate Enrolled Act 1, effective January 1, 2025 taxes payable in 2026**
You own property or are buying on a recorded contract, use it as your primary place of residence, and are blind or disabled. **Deduction converted to credit per Senate Enrolled Act 1, effective January 1, 2025 taxes payable in 2026**

You are a Disabled Veteran or a Veteran of World War I

You own a home that has a solar energy system or geothermal device. **Deduction eliminated per Senate Enrolled Act 1 effective January 1, 2025 taxes payable in 2026**

You are a builder and own a residence that is used as a Model Residence.

You are a builder and own a residence that is not used as a Model Residence but is a Residence in inventory.
